Blockchain to Overtake Internet? No Chance

With the fast-changing technology and the coming into play of new innovations – by day, a comparison between blockchain and the internet will usually arise in any conversation about the digital era.

The internet’s history dates back to 1983 – and since then – it has evolved from a simple military communication network to the world’s central cyberspace.

Today, you can almost do nothing without depending on the internet – from online banking, watching the news, searching whatever you want to know about any subject to doing business – by utilizing social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Generally, the internet is a global computer network providing a variety of information and communication facilities, consisting of interconnected networks using standardized communication protocols.

Blockchain on the other hand is a cryptocurrency blockchain explorer service, as well as a cryptocurrency wallet and a cryptocurrency exchange supporting Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, and Ethereum.

They also provide Bitcoin data charts, statistics, and market information.

Blockchain technology is structured in the form of a chain of blocks that contain information, compared to the Internet, which can be described as ‘formless’.

As much as Blockchain is fast gaining popularity across the globe – with some governments even having a thought of embracing it as an official currency, I still think it is premature for someone to think it will be bigger than the internet – at least in the near future.

Currently, Blockchain is fully dependent on the internet – in other words without the internet, there is no Blockchain.

Until when someone can access Bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency without the need to have internet connectivity in their devices – be it a computer, laptop or mobile phones – nobody should even think of thinking that Blockchain can be bigger than the internet.

Blockchain might be gaining popularly all over the world, but it will be fair to say that its success – and even potential to reach even a bigger market is dependent on the internet – as things stand now.
